AAANY’S Statement about new travel ban
We Overturned the First Ban — And We’ll Rise Again
Another travel ban. Another attack on immigrants, Muslims, Black and Brown communities. This policy isn’t about national security — it’s about fear and discrimination.
We’ve seen this before. In 2017, families were torn apart at airports. People were denied entry based on their religion and nationality. Communities were devastated — but they also rose up. We rallied, protested, and organized until the ban was fought in the courts and in the streets.
Now, we’re being called to rise again.
This new version of the travel ban is a continuation of that same cruelty. It targets the same people and causes the same pain. Families will be separated again. Students, workers, and loved ones will be blocked from opportunity and safety.
But we are not powerless. Our voices, our presence, our refusal to be silent — that’s what overturned the first ban.
We will not stop until justice is restored.
